Antonio Rudiger has agreed to join Real Madrid at the end of the season as a free agent.
This was the final year of the contract Rudiger had signed with Chelsea.
Chelsea had been attempting to negotiate a new contract with him, however, Rudiger has indicated that Chelsea could have done more to convince him to stay much before sanctions were imposed on the club.
According to sources, Chelsea were unwilling to meet the player’s wage demands.
Chelsea made an offer worth £220,000 a week, while Real's offer was significantly better at £342,000 per week.
"Without the sanctions we would at least be able to carry on fighting, but our hands are tied. We don't take it personally. It is his decision."
"The situation is that he wants to leave the club," Tuchel said. "He informed me of this is in a private talk. We gave everything -- me and the club -- but we could not fight anymore.
After being unable to convince Haaland to join, who has chosen to join Manchester City, Real Madrid have now set their sights on improving their squad by taking advantage of free agents.
They are currently in the process of finalising a deal for PSG starlet Kylian Mbappe.
